Armor

With this poem, I tried rhyming for the first time in years. I'm afraid it made it too cheesy, but that's no reason to avoid sharing what God has done for me.

Armor

For so long, I stared at Your armor.
A suit of it strewn across my floor
Or standing in the corner to gather dust
Or soaked in my tears and covered in rust.

Only when conflict raged could I have known.
I had to see only what You could have shown.
I finally heard the Truth only You told.
I stopped trying to lift a sword I could never hold.

Your armor now fully covers me.
It moves and fits so perfectly.
You made it to protect me in a war You will fight.
You made it from the blood you shed and pure light.

I have stained this suit with sins for which I could never atone.
Yet You share with me a victory that is all your own.
I know that in this fray You are the only constant.
You are everything that makes me content.

I pray now that You shine the steel.
Let the metal reflect the battle scars You heal.
Let me not settle for this world's stalemate.
Let me show that only Your love can satisfy and animate.
