Gravity
The core of this Earth pulls.
So hard, it pulls me back
To a world based on nothing
But selfishness and aimlessness.
It's allure is deceptive
And I am so easily baited.
I cling desperately to the ground
When You have made me for the sky.
With You, in You, by You I am lifted.
My toes no longer grip the dirt and roots.
I am drenched in love but light enough for flight.
You have conquered gravity.
So hard, it pulls me back
To a world based on nothing
But selfishness and aimlessness.
It's allure is deceptive
And I am so easily baited.
I cling desperately to the ground
When You have made me for the sky.
With You, in You, by You I am lifted.
My toes no longer grip the dirt and roots.
I am drenched in love but light enough for flight.
You have conquered gravity.
Gravity still tugs but no longer has control.
We are midair, and I can't help but look.
Just one glance back to Earth is all
But that's all it takes to start trembling.
One glance to lose sight, to lose focus
And at once I have forgotten You.
I let go of Your sturdy hand
But Your grip is tighter than mine.
In this time when I'm looking back,
When my back and head are turned
My feet still dangle, never touching ground.
I can't even see Your arms.
They're wrapped around my weak soul.
You set my path further upward
And guide me to it with Your patience.
You carry me when I don't even know.
